
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player is a striker with San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), which is the top division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 until 2020 along with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. In the months following her graduation in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was drafted number one overall in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her professional debut there and was integral in winning the league championship. Morgan was 22, at the time was the youngest player in the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team was runner-up. In the 123rd minute during the semifinal game against Canada during the 2012 London Olympics she scored the match-winning goals. She ended 2012 with 28 goals, 21 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to reach 20 goals in one season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was an FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan also helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, which saw her named to the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
