Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, at least in the eyes of America, into the class of child prodigies. These traits were natural for a child born in Ireland, surrounded by gifted parents and a loving, supportive family. Maureen was welcomed into this caring haven on the 17th of August 1920 in Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita L. FitzSimons had a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons made up this beautiful family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and participated in rough, competitive games as a child. She combined this interest with an equally natural aptitude to perform. As a result, she received almost all of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting within her own country. At the age of 14 she joined an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study classical theatre and operatic vocals.
