Belknap is from Damariscotta in Maine. She is the daughter of David Belknap and Louise Belknap. She studied at Lincoln Academy, Newcastle Maine. It was during this time that acting became her main interest while she was attending Middlebury College Vermont. After that, she studied at the American Conservatory Theater earning a Master of Fine Arts degree. Belknap is famous for her TV roles, which include regular series characters (related to ER, Third Watch and Medical Investigation) in The Handler and Medical Investigation; a recurring role in Deadline as well as guest roles in Law & Order Law & Special Victims, and Without a Trace.
